Our Goal

Our goal is to educate people of western faith on proper nutrition, exercise, combined with meditation/prayer.

You’re Instructor

Krystie came to yoga in 1998 when a girlfriend suggested a yoga class at the local YMCA. It was there she learned the physical benefits and the peace which followed the practice. However it was clear her spirit felt “uneasy”. Raised in the Christian faith the eastern ties made her uncomfortable. After that course she studied and practiced at home doing asanas (stretches) combined with breathing techniques.

In 2002 she was injured at work tearing a rotator cuff and pulling a muscle away from a rib. These injuries, lead her on a journey through Workman’s Comp which left her permanently, partially disabled. Numerous doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists, and physical therapists were unable to manage her pain. She was told her injuries were “as good as they were going to get.” Then the doctors prescribed yoga for pain management. With an already growing interest in yoga she decided if she had to practice daily why not teach. She was certified through N.E.S.T.A. the National Endurance & Sports Trainers Association in Sport Yoga and created Yoga Alternatives in 2005. She chose this program for the fundamental basics of poses minus the religious aspect. Krystie hosted free yoga classes at Lookout Mountain Christian church in Genessee, Colorado while teaching at several Bally’s Total Gyms.

More recently in 2008 Krystie was diagnosed with mild carpal tunnel syndrome and went through a very long workman’s compensation claim. Doctors, surgeons, physical therapy and steroid injections were followed by getting laid off due to the injury and the economy. Much of her time is spent on physical therapy. After much research she opted to not have surgery and rather try alternative medicines for healing.

Most recently in August of 2009 Krystie was in an auto accident and is currently still in physical therapy. She is physically unable to teach so she is taking this time to work on video editing for online classes. We would appreciate your prayerful support for her healing at this time.
